What Happens To Your Muscles If You Stop Working Out

Many people wonder how long they need to work out before they can stop and enjoy their incredible physique, but it’s not all that simple.
You can’t just build a great body and then stop working out. Of course if you eat well you won’t lose all your muscle and gain fat, but undoubtedly you won’t be able to keep the same physique for a long time. As time passes, your muscles will become weaker and weaker because of the lack of exercise and that’s the reason why even long-time gym-goers have sore muscles when they return to the gym after a long rest, the muscles are just not used to those workouts anymore.
This is why I advise you not to stop working out ( especially for a long period of time ), several workouts that you missed won’t make your muscles weaker, but if you stop working out for a couple of months that’s another case. Not working out will probably make your results in strength exercises like bench press worse, your endurance may go down and it may take time to get used to your workout routine again.

It’s not a crime if you stop working out for months as there can be many reasons for that, both connected with health and other circumstances. I have done it several times myself. When I first started working out I was 14, that’s when I took it seriously and during summer I improved my body quite a lot. When I turned 15 I had some issues that didn’t allow me to work out for some time. After several months I started to work out again. I had gained some fat ( I’ve never been a slim kind of guy, more of a bulky and strong one ) and my muscles had obviously become weaker. But when I got into my routine again I realized how much I’d missed working out.
So my advice is – try to be consistent in your workouts, don’t stop working out just because of laziness or “busyness” ( only health problems and some other circumstances are real reasons for that ), cause it’s going to be hard to get back into the routine and bring back the habit. Try to like the process, and soon laziness won’t be an excuse.
As Always,
