What are body types and how to differ them ?

Some people know and others don’t that all people have certain body types. Each body type has its characteristics and can knowing what body type you have can help you know more about your body and how to reach your body goals. So what body types are there out there and how can you recognize one or the other?

There are 3 main body types – ectomorph , mesomorph , endomorph. Of course most people can’t be classified as just one of these body types and are mostly somewhere between two body types and can have traits of different body types at the same time. Now I’ll explain the main characteristics of each body type.

An ectomorph has very low body fat, is skinny, doesn’t have much muscle, has a thin wrist. He struggles to gain muscle, but loses fat quite easily. Ectomorphs usually don’t have problems with fat, just the struggles with muscles which can be solved with a good diet and big amounts of exercise.

A mesomorph is probably the ultimate body type. He doesn’t have much fat, but gains muscle easily compared to an ectomorph. But still he should be careful about muscle mass gain so that he doesn’t gain fat. He is somewhere between an ectomorph and endomorph, average shoulders, a decent amount of muscle mass, but not too massive. Probably the best body type to be a natural bodybuilder ( but if you’re not a mesomorph, it doesn’t mean you can’t get the same results, it may just take longer ! )

An endomorph is a both problematic and good body type. An endomorph usually struggles with excess fat , but at the same time gains muscle mass really easily, much easier than the other body types. He is stronger than other body types, has wider shoulders, hips and wrist. The problem is that if an endomorph has excess fat ( which he usually does ) it’s not that easily for him to lose it, but if an endomorph loses his excess fat and starts gaining lean muscle, he can become a beast.

So you can see that each body type has its pros and cons, but most people are somewhere in between those body types. Let’s take me as an example. I mostly have traits of an endomorph, I struggle to lose fat but gain muscle easily. But at the same time I don’t have that much fat, and I can say I have a little from a mesomorph. So you can see it’s hard to define one as a clearly one body type, my example wasn’t the best to show this though, cause I think I’m like 90%+ endomorphic, just not that huge.

The main thing I want to say is, don’t make having a “bad” body type (although each has its cons) an excuse, go set some goals and start working towards them, just take your body type and organism into account on some scale, it can help. Always remember, workout, exercise and diet.

And , of course, read the tips and fitness advise by Bodybeasts , as I’m always keen to help you, that’s my ultimate goal !
